OMG– one out of ten?!?!

OMG– one out of ten?!?!

Ok.  I just wrote my last post on how to write an effective resume.  Right after I wrote that, I read on line that you can expect one interview for every 10 resumes you sent out.

Not sure where those numbers came from but I am curious to hear from job seekers out there: did you get one interview from every 10 resumes you submitted?  I know I never have, especially in a market such as this.  If you did, I would love to know how yu accomplished that.

My suggestion to those of you who want to achieve those numbers: make sure they are hand delivered by a contact you have made through networking.  When I had to fill a job and there were stacks of resumes sitting on my desk, I had a separate pile of resumes of candidates who were known to the organization is some way.

The answer: network, network, network.
